The biggest thing is there's no sound that indicates a batch is done. My doctor told me not to let it sit for more than 5 to 10 minutes so that's a bit of a deal breaker for me.I put 4 cups of water into this and it was done (and down to 1 cup) in about 90 minutes. As pictured, the lights are both on for me until it gets down to 1 cup, at which point only one light is on. Maybe it's obvious if you can read. This works as expected. There isn’t a manual on/ off. As soon as you plug it in, it is on and it switches to “warm” , once the cook cycle is over. Though I would have preferred a manual on/ off, the pot is acceptable without it. I bought this to reduce the chances of burning the herbs I cook and it has been successful in that.Had a different cord than my previous one and was worried it would not stay in (magnetic). Also base more slippery on my counter than my previous one I had. I put it in a glass dish o top of a strip of rubbery drawer liner and it's very secure. However, unlike my old one that gave out and shut off after 15 min instead of 2 hrs, this one does shut off after 2 hrs.Note: Unfortunately, I used to be able to leave my cook pot and the liquid would still be there when I came home. Now I have to watch that after 1 hr and 45 min, not 2 hrs as literature suggests, I unplug it and strain the liquid or the herbs soak it up and I don't have enough to break into thirds for the day as I am supposed to do. My herbalist said that's an ok amt. of time and not to worry. Don't know that it's the fault of the pot; could be my particular herbs. Just make sure you don't leave it like you would a crock pot.Sunpentown has produced an effective Chinese herbal pot. Boiling down TCM herbs can be a messy, time consuming business. This is a good product that saves time and peace of mind. We place all the herbs at once in the pot and let it cook for about 2 hours, it will automatically switch to "warm". This will allow you to decoct and process your next batch at your convenience. Over all we really like the pot. Our main dislikes are that it is really heavy and also gets much hotter than our last one. This is a bit of an inconvenience with transfer, but not a huge issue.Very easy to use, just turn it on, when finished, it will shut off. .This product is very easy to use. Put Chinese herb medicine and water into the pot then plug in the socket. One thing that I am not satisfied with is when the boiling is done and the pot turns to keep warm, there is a little water left far less than a bowl of water.Overall, it is okay. No matter how much water you put, it will cook the herbs until the preset liquid amount and then change to warming mode. I still hope there would be a switch on this pot cooker that I can turn the power of the whole thing off, but there is none. If you want to turn it on, the only way is to plug the power line; to turn if off, you have to unplug. If you forget to unplug, the liquid inside the cooker can still dry out after 2+ hours, which seems kind of dangerous to me. So be careful when using this convenient tool.Works well, as described. Cuts off at one cup. Much easier than having to continually check and watch herbs cook on the stove. No herb odors in house, nor all the moisture. Just put cooker outside. Can fit 2 days of herbs if smaller portions. My portions are larger and can only get one in at a time. See how long it holds up. Metal cooking element at bottom seems to get burnt herbs stuck to it.Very good
