If you own a tankless water heater, then you need to be cleaning the heat exchanger regularly, especially if you don't have soft water.Options in order of decreasing cost/increasing hassle:Option 1: Pay a plumber an absurd amount of money for them to do it. Write a check and you're done.Option 2: Buy this system, open the box, hook up a few hoses and turn it on, wait 45 min or so and then 5 min clean up.Option 3: Piece together all the individual parts, do the same thing, save even more moneyTo me, option 2 was the best, I didn't have to worry about getting wrong type/size of pump, etc. I saved a LOT of money by doing it myself, and now that I have the unit I can use it annually for next to no cost. You can put together your own system, there is nothing magical about this product as it's just a sump pump, some hoses and a bucket, along with some chemicals that others just use vinegar.HOWEVER, for me it was worth the extra cost to have everything work easily and the bucket and plastic piece that raises the pump above the bottom are nice and allow storage when done. The hoses are used for very short term (less than an hour a year) so they don't need to be stainless steel braided, etc.Piece it all together yourself, or just click, have it arrive, and get the job done. Whatever your choice however, make sure you DO get your unit de-scaled or it will slowly become less efficient and you'll be pouring money down the drain (or out the flue, as the case may be!).
